This place is way too hot and stuffy, and stinks of chlorine. On a 30°C day, there aren't any windows or doors open for any relief for spectators, the place is packed out. I can't swim due to allergies and have to supervise two 10 year olds.
Glenorchy Pool has closed down, so stuck in here feeling sick, headachey and sweatting like a pig.
Gross atmosphere. I wish they would somehow let some fresh air in.
I'm never coming again.
Waste of money for teenagers and adults who just want a casual swim.
Your only options are doing laps or being in the kids paddle pool. Literally nowhere open for teenagers to just have fun in the water. All the adults are sitting bored around the edges, who might be otherwise enjoying a swim with their kids. Twenty bucks to not have a swim.
My friend & I have been coming to the pool regularly for the last 3 years, we have always found it to be pleasant with all other patrons & staff, we have used both pools, spa, sauna, Cafe & even slide when in operation. But today we had a bad experience with another patron, we were in the medium lane & a male aged between 25 & 30 told us in no uncertain terms to get out of the lane with him because we were too slow, I told him "we both could keep up with him" & he said " we would have a heart attack trying". Rather than cause a confrontation we changed lanes, then another lady (who was slower than my friend & I ) started swimming in "his" lane, he left the pool. This was age discrimination. We were there from about 2pm until about 3pm. Not good Not wanting to go back.
Visiting Hobart and just came for a shower and it cost $5. Next time l'll vote for swim as well for an extra $1.80 concessional. Looks like good variety of play area for younger children (slide, bucket and fountains. Shame teenagers can't just enjoy general pool as both small and larger have different "speed" lanes. Reasonable drinks and snacks shop and swim shop also.
2pm on a Saturday and they close the main lap pool for a private event. Lots of families and people all in the shallow pool wasn't fun.
Also no dip n dots? Why did we even bother.
Never answer their phone. Staff more busy talking to fellow staff than supervising swimmers. And you can set your clock by staff shortages and lunch breaks by their false containation closing pool that then has a miracle cure.
It would have been 5 stars, but after calling to ask about the inflatables earlier in the week we were told they'd be up. Arrived after driving an hour to find they weren't up because they didn't have the staff to man it. 🙄 the slide was open intermittently, and the diving board was open (but a very long line up).
Food was okay but not fantastic. Dipping dots were delicious though and the staff were lovely.
The kids loved the slide and play area.
As a member for a number years, I find inconsistencies with lane space availability, boom movement with the lane schedule. Lifeguards don't monitor that the swimmers are in the appropriate fast, medium or slow lanes. Change rooms are not overly clean nor the pool deck. Unfortunately not many other pools to go too.
